On Monday, Sept. 19th, our pilgrimage class along with three other students, engaged in a tour of Tomorogi Shrine and Naritasan-Fudoson Temple. The former is a noted Shinto location to benefit students and scholars, while the latter is a full-service Shingon Buddhist temple, which is especially known for providing prayers for traffic safety. It was a very hot day, but the students were all delightfully enthusiastic. We capped off the tour with tea and senbei, Japanese sweet-crackers, and the Japanese students helped the exchange students to read their omikuji, written fortune-telling messages. We had a notably high proportion of good luck within the group.
